HOW DO I APPLY?
Send us a link to your best song. The recording quality isn’t important. Voice memos will do. You’ll also be asked to answer a bunch of questions about yourself/your band and provide links to your social media. We also require that you are living, working or studying within the region that we are running the series in this year. Head over to the contact section and fill out the form and get it to us by August 31st.
I'M IN A BAND. SOME, BUT NOT ALL OF US LIVE WITHIN THE REGION. CAN WE BE INVOLVED IN THE SERIES?
Yes! Our aim is to support an original live music community within the specified regions. If you are confident that you can contribute to making this series a successful one for all the artist's involved then we'd love to hear from you. All we ask is that you/your band is connected to the specified region and that you are as excited as we are about sharing your music with your local community.
WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THE RECORDING/PRODUCTION OF MY TRACK?
The team at El Perro Productions will be taking care of that. The process will involve working on recording, mixing and mastering. Each act will receive one full day of recording. Recording sessions are typically pretty long days so we ask that you come prepared, focused and ready to create. The tracks will then be mixed on a separate day. Our mix engineers prefer to work alone so there will be no need for you to attend the mixing sessions. You will have the chance to make 2 revisions to get it right and sounding the way you want it. It will then be sent off for mastering.
HOW DO THE GIGS WORK?
The shows are ticketed events taking place across at two ALH venues in January at The Pelly Bar and Ferntree Gully Hotel . The shows will be your opportunity to launch your new single recorded as part of GRID Series.
HOW DOES THE MENTORING SEMINAR/ SONG DEVELOPMENT WORK?
You will get one-on-one consultations with 3 industry mentors across a full weekend. The mentors will help you plan out how to get where you want to go. Each consultation will cover a specific part of the industry. You will then have the chance to meet with one of the mentors again leading up to your single launch to make sure that all your release plans are on track. As part of the seminar, you will also be introduced to music business students from some of Melbourne's best music schools who will be on hand to offer you support in putting together a really strong release plan. Why do it all alone when you can build a team to help you get to where you want to go?
You will also be given an opportunity to workshop your song with an established songwriter in preparation for your recording session.
WHAT DO WE GET PAID FOR OUR GIG?
You will be splitting ticket sales from the night of the other artists you perform with as well as with GRID Series. You'll need to provide us with an invoice/ABN.
ARE THERE ANY GENRE / AGE RESTRICTIONS?
All GRID participants will need to be over 18 years of age. In terms of genre, we're curating this series to represent a broad range of styles. We will endeavour to make sure that all types of music can be showcased.
